ACOUSTIC MUSIC

Acoustic Music is about learning to play the guitar for a lifetime of enjoyment. Many students leave the class having learned enough to go on and start their own band, write their own songs, or take a guitar with them to college to serenade their dormmates. We explore and play pop, folk, and rock styles, as well as the cultures and times that created them.

Teacher:  Ms. April Block
Class Objectives:
Develop various strumming techniques on the guitar used in several genres of music such as folk, blues, and rock.
Learn correct fingering for ten chords in 1st position.
Analyze the past and current pop music industry and the guitar's role within it.
Develop students' social skills by utilizing cooperative learning throughout.
Develop the confidence in a young person that playing an instrument brings.

How Parents Can Help:  Information regarding concerts, t-shirts, clothing for concerts, fundraisers, etc.  is sent home in an e-mail and/or on a flier with students periodically.  It is imperative that these documents are read as they contain information that is critical for parents to know such as dates and times.  We always welcome parents as visitors to class or as chaperones
