About Me

Hi! My name is Kelli Eagen. I have been working with Omaha Public Schools since 2005. I taught Computer Applications at Monroe Middle School for 4 years, FACTS at Burke for 1.5 years and am now at Beveridge teaching 7th and 8th grade Computer Apps. My husband and I have 2 boys. Noah is 6 and Jacob is almost 4.

In Computer Apps I, students focus on learning the correct way to type on a keyboard using home row keys a, s, d, f, j, k, l, ;. Using the typing program Edutyping.com, students will learn proper finger placement on the keyboard and strive to key 30 words per minute with 95% accuracy. We will also discuss and learn about cyberbullys, safe online communication, safe searching on the Internet, and how to be an upstander in a cyberbully situation. This class lasts for 9 weeks and then students switch to another exploratory such as Composition, Music Exploration, and Tech and Living.

In Computer Apps II, students focus on learning the tabs, groups, and commands in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, EXCEL, and Publisher 2013. They will complete several projects in order to explore Microsoft Office. They will also review and practice typing using Edutyping.com. Their goal is 40 words per minute with 95% accuracy.

Course Description:


In this class, students will be introduced to/review and improve keyboarding techniques. Students will review the information cycle and the parts of the computer. They will understand and use internet safety techniques, including: account safety, copyright laws and evaluate websites for accuracy, timeliness, and relevance. The students will use Microsoft Office products to create and edit documents and power points to problem solve and communicate ideas.
